TikTok Can't Control Its Counterfeit Beauty Community
TikTok’s in-app shopping platform aptly named TikTok Shop is in hot water over fake cosmetics. While TikTok boasts a zero tolerance policy for counterfeit goods, third party sellers are having a field day in the app, peddling everything from fake CoverGirl mascaras to prescription-strength skincare and Dior Sauvage bottles with the brand name misspelled. (Search "perfume" and you’ll see more than enough proof.)
While some of these items present themselves as “dupes,” others are straight up fakes and get this, if you open a bottle of perfume for example and the scent is off, a seller can refuse a return since the item was opened. Tisk, tisk.
Frugal-minded beauty lovers may see nothing wrong with the occasional faux beauty buy, particularly when an influencer is directing them to the product, but beware — these counterfeits do not undergo the same safety testing or quality control as their official counterparts.
Its best to explore affordable brands, DIYs, and drugstore brands too protect ya coins and leave the dupes in the dust.
