Marni and Erykah Badu Drop In-Store Only Collab
Fresh off the heels of a partnership with Tremaine Emory's No Vacancy Inn, Marni is back with another collab, this time with one of the most unwavering personal style icons of our generation — Erykah Badu.
Not only did she co-design the offering, but she also art directed the campaign images, enlisting her daughter Puma and son Seven as models.
The images are as compelling as you'd expect, shot in the interior and exterior of a Southern church and blending the soulful and futuristic in a way that's signature Badu.
As for the collection, colorblocked suiting, statement headwear, and patchwork scarves make up the majority of the capsule, though there appears to be at least one paillette cardigan in the mix, as well.
Fans who want to cop Erykah Badu x Marni won't be able to do it online, the brand made sure to note that the collab was in-store only — making it all the more covetable. Marni's IG captions for every Badu post read:
Marni expands its ever-evolving creative practice with #ERYKAHBADUxMARNI, a limited-edition capsule collection co-designed by creative director Francesco Risso and American singer-songwriter Ms. Erykah Badu. Linked by a shared creative sensitivity and synchronicity, Risso and Badu’s distinctive artistic voices are translated into designs that embody a polyform narrative of garments, fusing Marni’s artisanal values with her singular aesthetic. The campaign images capture the capsule’s spiritual and creative conviction, as they are photographed in Dallas, a metropolis that collects the heritage of Ms. Erykah Badu’s words and music. #ERYKAHBADUxMARNI is exclusively available in selected Marni boutiques.
