Jordan Brand Reveals Nigerian-Inspired AJ1
While there's no shortage of thematic Air Jordan 1s on the market, every now and then a particularly thoughtful pair manages to cut through the noise.
One pair already getting a fair amount of buzz is the "Vibrations of Naija," a forthcoming drop inspired by Nigerian heritage.
The sneaker follows in the footsteps of other heritage based models, including Nike's Lunar New Year capsules and Black History Month collections. Dressed in a blend of white, and off-white, the shoe's pared down upper sets the stage for a melange fabrication that lands on the Swoosh and ankle collar.
While the exact tie-in and inspiration have yet to be revealed, its worth noting that unlike MANY of today's referential designs, the Air Jordan 1 "Vibrations of Naija" doesn't rely entirely on storytelling to make a splash. Whether or not the inspiration is expressed to the masses or known to the consumer, at face value it's just a beautiful shoe.
Look out for "Vibrations of Naija" to release via SNKRS for the usual $180 USD.
