Gird Your Loins, The Most Anticipated Women’s Sneaker Release is Upon Us
Some of us have been waiting seven long years for this one.
Back in 2016, Jordan Brand released a highly limited take on the Air Jordan 1 “Bred” reimagined in an entirely satin upper. The product is a sultry take on the 1985 original that practically begs to be paired with a slip dress. Come on, it's a sexy shoe.
The original release was extremely limited, clocking in at a mere 501 pairs. Most regarded it as a friends and family release, never to be heard of again.
Back in January, rumors started to circulate that the sneaker would see an official drop in a women’s size run. And while releases such as this are a good look for brands as far as acknowledging women in the sneaker world, it does very little to help pairs get into the hands of women. ::Sigh::
The next wave of rumors related to the Satin Breds hint at an October 18 release in women’s, kids, and toddler sizing with an approximate retail price of $180, $85 and $70 respectively.
While the world is certainly not without its fair share of Air Jordan 1s (not by an f-ing long shot), and the Bred colorway has been applied to every silhouette in Jordan Brand’s arsenal (with varying degrees of success), something about this iteration feels *right.*
It's elevated, grown-up, and a completely impractical lifestyle-driven take on a classic. One can only hope for an accompanying satin apparel capsule. Ya know, for date nights and stuff.
