Coach is Betting Heavy On Y2K Bags — Are We Into It?

The Coach golden era aligns with my high school days. The price point was aspirational, but attainable, right in the sweet spot along with a Baby Phat puffer, Juicy Couture charm bracelet, Tiffany padlock necklace and the rest of the *luxury* items of the late aughts.

Since then Coach has had intermittent success with a BAPE collab, a star-studded campaign for it's Pillow Tabby bag, and adding Lil Nas X as an ambassador. If the brand's Fall 2023 runway presentation is any indication, the strategy over at Coach is to hone in on novelty shapes and mini bags, from clovers and stars to C-shapes and mini apples.

Do we spy the next "It Bag" in the assortment? My money is on the monogram T-Rex or the lip shapes. Time will tell is the zeitgeist is finally ready to perch Coach among the bag brands of the moment and if this collection is gonna do the trick.
