Libra’s are all about balance, and to celebrate that, we’ve curated 3 of our favorite perfectly-balanced cocktail recipe
Regardless of your astrological sign, we all crave balance in our lives, and like it or not, Libras are (supposedly) balance masters.
This weekend, we want to celebrate the spirit of balance by rewarding your week of working hard with a cocktail guide for playing hard. Balance = beautiful, am I right?
These cocktails call for equal parts of all ingredients, so whether you’re a seasoned bartender or a cocktail novice, it’ll be easy to keep up. Don’t have a jig to measure your spirits? No problem– use a shot glass! The traditional shot glass is 1.5 ounces, but if you don’t have one of those either, you can usually rely on the ol’ tablespoon method. Three tablespoons equal roughly 1.5 ounces. You can also check out this guide from Thrillist for creative cocktail measurement solutions. Thank me later.
Anyway, cheers to the freakin’ weekend!!!
The 50/50 Martini
1.5 oz gin (or vodka)
1.5 oz dry vermouth
~ dash of orange bitters
Shaken and garnished with an orange twist
Martinis are the most classic cocktail imaginable and you can order them at any bar. This martini is just slightly different in that there are equal parts gin or vodka and vermouth. Usually, a martini is a whopping 3.5 ounces of vodka or gin with a meager amount of vermouth (and olives if you like it dirty). The 50/50 is a little weaker, a little smoother, and served with a refreshing orange twist. Strong, yet chill– just like a Libra.
Corpse Reviver
1 oz gin
1 oz triple sec
1 oz lemon juice
Shaken and garnished with a lemon peel twist.
It’s been a loooooooong week. That mercury in retrograde (which ends Sunday, by the way!) isn’t doing anyone any favors. You might not feel like rallying, but your friends are bothering you to go out and for that, we have the perfect antidote– the Corpse Reviver. Get in the groove with a drink that’s reminiscent of the 50/50 above but sweeter and mellower. Feel free to swap out the lemon juice for your favorite juice, and if you’re feeling extra freaky, get a flavored gin to deepen the flavor profile. My personal favorite is Corgi Spirits Bee Blossom Gin, which contains notes of orange blossoms, elderflowers, rose, and honey. If that’s not available in a store near you, pick another botanical gin and tag us in your recipe, we’d love to see what you come up with.
Good Samaritan
1 oz bourbon
1 oz sherry
1 oz banana liquor
Shaken and served on the rocks with a slice of orange.
Last up we have the Good Samaritan; a cocktail that’ll bring you some inner warmth to fend off this cold, cold world! This is definitely the sweetest of the bunch, so chase these with some water to ensure that your Good Samaritan doesn’t turn into a Bad Hangover. Extra adventurous folx will add a splash of milk of their choosing, and a dash of cinnamon, and shake it for a creamy, sweet, and strong after-dinner delight. My mouth is watering already!!!
